Introduction: Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently
I am a Nutritionist (M.Sc in Dietetics) and Fitness Consultant (ACSM certified Health Fitness Instructor) by qualification and profession. I also study and practise yoga. Started working at an early age of 19-20 years as a part time fitness trainer, I worked for almost 13 years at state-of-the-art fitness clubs like Golds Gym, Endurance club; also a world renowned medical Institute, Institute of Human Reproduction and a stint with celebrity Nutritionist, Rujuta Diwekar. Having done that, I felt it was a natural progression that I take the unbeaten path of paving my own way by setting up a unique practice of my own, and I named it “Yuktahaar.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?
I am a firm believer of “Do what you love and love what you do”. Back in 2000-2002 when I started my career as a fitness trainer, Nutrition and/ or Fitness was not popular as a mainstream course or industry compared to the present time. I was studying to be an engineer at MIT, Pune and having discovered Nutrition and Fitness as my true calling, I decided to pursue my passion. Yes, despite conventional wisdom and social aspirations, taking the plunge and following my heart instead of chasing a coveted career as an engineer led me to choose learning and pursue excellence in nutrition science and exercise physiology.
To me, that was the biggest challenge. And once I could overcome that, there’s been no looking back ever since.
What has been your greatest achievement personally?
Being conferred upon the BEST NUTRITIONIST by FEMINA presents 5th World Women Leadership Congress & Awards (WWLC) 2018 on 17th Feb, 2018 and the “Most Impactful Healthcare Leadership Award- Global Listing” by World Health & Wellness Congress & Awards on 14th Feb, 2018.
Also, my enterprise, Yuktahaar, in a short span of time has established itself as a global brand and has been recognized amongst “50 Best Wellness Companies- Global Listing” by World Health & Wellness Congress & Awards on 15th Feb, 2018.
If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t doing what I am doing now, I would be looking out for my true calling until I discovered exactly what I am doing now.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
All those men and women who fearlessly and courageously pursue their dreams, no matter what challenges life throws at them.
What does the future hold for you?
A lot of good things. (At least that’s what I would like to believe).
