Tell us about yourself, your background and what you do currently
I have completed my graduation in physics from Sri Venkateswara College (DU), my post-graduation from St. Stephen’s College (DU) and now I pursuing my doctorate in physics from University of Delhi while working as a Research Fellow in a project in collaboration with All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC). I enjoy different fields like social activism, science, writing, tarot card reading and numerology. I have co-directed and edited a short film titled, “I too have a dream!”, worked in a Punjabi Chart buster “The Thar-ian”. I have been actively involved with NGO’s like UDYAAN CARE and HELPAGE INDIA in the past years. To tell you the truth, I am a multi-passionate person and going into Mrs. Asia International and Mrs. Universe pageant was just one of my passions. For me there’s never a distinct line between work and home, my work is such a natural extension of me. It’s not something I need to shed at the end of the day.
Tell us about any current projects or initiatives you wish to promote
I have launched my newest venture along with my mother Puneet Sharma as God Grace Enterprises publicly during a grand event in 2016. God Grace Enterprises is an effort in itself to bring all of the cult sciences like Vedic Astrology, Medical astrology, Numerology, tarot card reading, Vastu Shastra and all of the spiritual sciences like Aura Healing, Energy Healing, Meditation etc under one roof.
Being a scientist I found numerology astonishingly authentic and accurate so I got fascinated towards it. In my experience tarot cards are highly accurate in reading the psychology and current state of mind of a person. I always keep myself busy in learning new techniques to make myself better. I feel blessed to have inherited these psychic gifts from my mother who is also my guru, my mentor and my inspiration and together we have been working to enable people to solve their problems in day today life and to benefit them by providing better ways of living.
What has been your biggest challenge in achieving your success?
The biggest challenge for me has always been time management. Though, I am getting better and better at it with each passing day, I still feel there is a lot of scope for improvement in this area of my life. When you are a multi- passionate person like me and you really want to have it all and take it all with you , your family, your loved ones, your morals , your ethics and still want to experience all the wonderful adventures life has in store for you, then time really is money my friend! The sooner you learn this the more you can enjoy the fascinating journey called life.
What has been your greatest achievement personally?
Well, winning the title of Mrs Universe West Asia 2016 and then going further to represent my tittle at Mrs. Universe 2016 not only has been my biggest achievement so far but also an experience of a lifetime. It made me so much more confident in myself. I had been lucky enough to have gotten a chance to be a part of such a great platform at the age of 26. It has been a lovely experience, meeting ladies from all around the world and sharing our experiences. All this has taught me that say what you mean and it will get you across all the cultural differences, just be yourself. My presentation was really appreciated by the judges and even by the other contestants. It revolved around the life of the children who witnessed domestic violence in their homes. I represented a group of nations and so did my National costume which revolved around the theme of “nations free from domestic violence”. Stepping out of home, facing spotlight and a global jury requires more than being confident, beautiful and literate. I believe that in the beauty industry, aspirations can take real turn, if one holds on to their self.
If you weren’t doing what you do now, what would you be doing?
I am literally doing everything that I ever wanted to do and even more. I don’t think there is anything that I can’t do. You know even as a child, when people would ask me what do you want to be when you grow up? I always used to say that I don’t want to be anything when I grow up I just want to do a lot of things and those little things that I would do , those little steps that I would take along the way would eventually add up in making me ME. That is exactly what I am doing, experiencing different fields , working on all my passions, taking those little steps towards making an exceptional legacy for myself. Carving a path that I can call just mine, not following anyone.
Who has been your biggest inspiration?
My mother, Puneet Sharma, is my biggest inspiration, my most encouraging champion, and my greatest sounding board. On top of helping me chart my path to success, she’s been very successful herself – a pioneering entrepreneur in her own right. She is one of the best astrologer and vastu consultant in India. Her guidance has taught me to see strength and ability in all women. I tell my mother that I love her and respect her at every chance I get.
What does the future hold for you?
I am a hardcore optimist by nature. I always look at the silver lining in the grey cloud, goodness in all human beings and magic in all the moments to come. I truly believe future holds million more magical moments for me and for all of us. It is up to us to recognise those moments and make the most of them.
